What this school is

Dixie sits at 10201 Casalanda Drive in Valley Station / 40272 — southwest Jefferson County, on the Valley High cluster. It serves grades Pre-K–5, and the 2025–26 Individual School Data Book lists hours 7:30–2:10 and optimal capacity 459; the school parent page lists 7:40–2:20, so confirm the bell before planning childcare.

The campus is in the Valley Zone with Johnsontown Road, Kennedy, and Medora. Maupin remains a listed choice school. Dixie is not one of the five Traditional magnets — if School Finder assigns the Casalanda Drive address here, families register.

Who runs the building

Principal Stephanie Roberts

JCPS appointed Stephanie Roberts principal on July 8, 2026; some staff pages still list the prior principal, Shawn Purlee. Assistant Principal Jeremy Sharfe, FRC Rebecca Reynolds, Counselor Felicia Carter, and mental-health practitioner Brittany Braden were listed when checked.

How families get in

If School Finder assigns Dixie to the address, register rather than submitting a magnet application. Families seeking another eligible Valley Zone option use the School Choices section of the Elementary Application.

  • Register first if the child is new to JCPS or entering kindergarten.
  • Returning students who have not moved do not need to reapply to stay.
  • A different Valley Zone campus is selected through the School Choices section; magnet schools and programs are selected separately.
  • Complete Transportation Verification and confirm the current stop.

2027–28 application window

  • November 2–December 18, 2026
  • Confirm dates with JCPS before applying

Resides students use the regular elementary transportation system. A magnet seat somewhere else does not automatically keep a Dixie bus.

Who it tends to fit

A good match when

  • Dixie is the resides or chosen school and you will use FRC and ESS as part of the plan.
  • A 7:30 a.m. start works for your household.
  • You want small-group reading/math, PTP/Advance, Character Strong, and the early-bell Valley Station campus.

Think twice when

  • You need a 9:40 a.m. campus — this one starts at 7:30 (confirm 7:40 on the school page).
  • You need a Traditional uniform culture or a districtwide theme magnet.
  • You are choosing almost entirely on test-score rankings; current bands sit below JCPS elementary averages.
