• A pin is not a leadership resume line. What a student actually did in the club is.

A school sponsor runs the chapter.

Year-round. Convention travel is separate and not automatic — ask whether it is optional and what it costs before your child counts on going.

• Expect invitation, a GPA cutoff, or a teacher recommendation, depending on the school.
• Ask the actual cutoff at that school. There is no single districtwide JCPS rule, so do not plan around a number you read somewhere else.
• Ask when invitations go out, so a missed letter does not cost your child the year.

A teacher or school sponsor runs the group. The district may coordinate a league or showcase, but it does not staff the team. Not every JCPS school offers this, and availability changes year to year — confirm at your child's school before you plan around it.
